How to create a Photo TimeLapse with Davinci Resolve

Introduction

The timelapse below was taken by leaving the camera to take various images throughout the course of a day. That is snow and rain on the same day. The steps below highlight how it was taken.

  • Select a scene

  • Setup the camera on the tripod

  • Calculate the timelapse length and number of images needed

  • Use the widest aperture on the lens or a manual lens

  • Use an ND filter to slow the shutter speeds if they are above 1/60th of a second

  • Use the lowest ISO

  • Use the Timelapse setting on the camera or an intervalometer to take the timelapse

  • Copy the images to the camera

  • Load the image sequences into Davinci Resolve

  • Edit the clips and export the final clip
